Why it matters

Sugar coating still matters here in a way it does not anywhere else, because a classical ayurvedic tablet is often expected to look sugar coated. Herbal cores are also the hardest thing we coat. Batch to batch the colour moves with the raw material, the moisture content is higher than a synthetic core and the smell has to be held in. A film here is doing three jobs at once, covering a colour that was not the same last month, keeping moisture out of a core that already carries some, and masking a taste that most patients would otherwise notice.

Running it

Send cores from two different batches, not one. Matching a shade against a single batch of a herbal tablet produces a film that looks wrong the moment the raw material shifts.
